FAQ

What does “Remnant” mean?
Throughout history, God has always used a Remnant, a group of faithful people, to bring those who are far from God back into relationship with Him.  A Remnant is a group of people that come to bring blessing to the land and redeem culture for God’s great glory.  (Zechariah 8:11-13)

What is the logo all about?
Our identity is centered in God’s heart for us.  We are who He says we are.  Our identity is also centered in demonstrating God’s heart to the world.  At Remnant, we put people’s hearts first.  We love and honor each individual as God’s creation, and love them like the irreplaceable treasures they are.

What’s the story behind Remnant Church?
While in prayer about where to plant Remnant Church, Pastor Mark heard God say, “X marks the spot.”  He grew up in the Quad Cities, IA and IL, and interstate 80 runs right through town.  When he moved to Indiana for college, state highway 37 took him into Bloomington. On the map of California I-80 and H-37 cross to form a perfect X.  Pastor Mark and his wife Amanda flew out to California to explore the area.  They first visited Vallejo, the city nearest the X.  Pastor Mark heard the Lord say, “Promotion comes from the north (Psalms 75:6). Go north.”  Fairfield was the next city north of Vallejo.  For confirmation, they prayed specifically that they would meet someone who was a Christian, friendly, asked them why they were coming, and then be happy for their future plans.  Upon arrival in Fairfield, Pastor Mark and Amanda were led by the Spirit into a Jamba Juice.  In Jamba Juice, they saw woman waiting on her drink. The Holy Spirit said “that’s her.”  Pastor Mark began talking to the woman and asking questions about the city.  When, she asked them why they were interested in Fairfield, Pastor Mark shared with her that he was a Pastor and would be coming with a team to plant a church.  The woman was excited and shared that she was a Christian and had been praying for God to send godly pastors to Fairfield. She prayed with them right there in Jamba Juice!
